Building Industry Hawaii Top 25 Contractors

For 2020, Constructors Hawaii reports earnings of $32.8 million to remain No. 25 among Hawaii’s Top 25 Contractors.

“We were quite busy in 2020 as we were focused on completing a number of projects, such as the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum,” Colin Yoshiyama, president of Constructors Hawaii, says.

Working during the COVID-19 pandemic produced a small decline for the general contractor, which had revenue of $36.5 million in 2019.

Yoshiyama notes that “the first half of 2021 has been slow. “I remain optimistic that as things start to open up, owners will start green-lighting more projects.”

Other projects that the GC completed in 2020 include the USS Missouri Education Research Center and The Queen’s Health Care Centers–Kahala. Its jobs in 2021 include the Eye Surgery Center of Hawaii, which wrapped in May; improvements at Kamehameha School Kapalama, set for completion in November; and the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children (KMCWC) ORS and IR catheterization lab, set to wrap in February.

Also in 2022, Constructors will celebrate 50 years since its founding by Albert Yoshiyama.
